At just a few weeks old, Lua was in an accident that crushed several of her lower vertebrae. Consequently, she cannot walk. She has full range of motion and lots of strength in her upper limbs, more limited in her lower limbs, and is not able to stand up for any length of time. Extensive therapies have greatly improved her functioning since the injury. Veterinarians who have worked with her since the injury believe, though, that she is highly unlikely ever to walk. She also requires assistance with her bladder function (she needs to have her bladder expressed 4-5 times in a 24-hour period). Her bowel function is fine. In other respects, she is very healthy.

Lua is an absolutely amazing cat -- very intelligent, sensitive, mischievous, playful, and so much else. She has personality+++. She does require more care than a cat who hasn't suffered such trauma at such an early age. So, she needs a home where someone will be there for her each day, through the day, especially to deal with her bladder expression. Her foster mum works from home and so is there for her.

There's no denying that Lua needs a very special home, and not very many people have the combination of circumstances, experience and inclinations to adopt her. However, perhaps you are that person with that home. If so, please let us know!

Lua's adopted!
