We are not sure how long sweet Suri was wandering the streets on her own. She found a nice family that would leave food out for her on their porch and she rewarded them with head rubs and purrs. The family realized that she wasn't feral and phoned VOKRA asking them for help.
We took Suri to the vets and she was so happy with all the attention and being touched that the vet couldn't listen to her heart because she was purring so loudly and rubbing her head on him. After some x -rays it was revealed that Suri has arthritis in her lower back and hips and has been in some pain. The vet thinks that Suri is about 9 years old.
This sweet loving girl would like a home where she can rub her head on someone, purr loudly and sit in front of a nice warm fire. She loves to be brushed and loves to sit and watch TV with you - her favourite show being Coronation Street. Suri is looking for a special family who will give this old girl a chance. She isn't as fast or playful as a kitten, but she is sweet, gentle and loving. She will be on pain medication for the rest of her life which will cost about $10 every month, but purrs and head rubs will be thrown in for free!
Update Sep 7-10:
Suri’s TV watching has grown to include enjoying Wipeout and Hannah Montana with her foster family’s 9 year old daughter. She also doesn’t mind at all being picked up and held like a baby, but only by children. ;) Suri is an absolute delight to have in our home. She has a very quiet, rarely heard “meow”. Her hip pain doesn’t seem to bother her at all because she will jump on the bed to say goodnight (again with the head rubs) but soon goes off and find her own place to sleep. The early part of Suri’s life will remain a mystery but we do hope for this sweet and gentle cat that the remainder of her life will offer her the chance to love a family, as she is so very much deserves.
