Because VOKRA is dedicated to being a no-kill organization, we do not “euthanise” cats who have special health issues and care requirements that make them more difficult to adopt out. Some of our special needs cats have permanent disabilities—usually due to human abuse, or early exposure to distemper or other diseases. Others have congenital problems like entropian (inward-turning) eyelids, malfunctioning sphincters (a particular problem in Manx cats), or missing limbs.
If a cat has the will to live, VOKRA believes in providing the care necessary to support that will. We combine conventional veterinary care with holistic methods, such as homeopathy and acupuncture. And we find foster parents and forever homes for special needs cats where they can enjoy their lives with the maximum comfort and love.
